Mr. S.T. Han, Vice President/WithWave
Everyone has probably looked at the night sky at least once and wondered about the creation of the universe. Astronomers are still continuously studying the fundamental questions of the universe with science. Radio astronomy is the field of studying the phenomena of the universe by receiving radio waves from the universe through a radio telescope.
…
In 2015, Spanish and Australian radio astronomers proposed the development of a miniaturized receiving system that can be easily installed on radio telescopes owned by each country. To this end, he stayed at California Institute of Technology for a year and developed the world’s first ultra-small three-channel (22GHz, 43GHz, 86GHz) receiving system in 2018 after three years through joint research with JPL.
The Italian National Astrophysical Center was commissioned to create three micro three-channel reception systems to install them on three radio telescopes. It was awarded through international bidding in 2020, successfully developed, and exported in August 2022. Germany and Finland are also developing this reception system to install it on their own radio telescopes.
The optical circuit of the receiver we developed and provided is also installed in the radio telescope owned by Japan and Spain and is used for observation. The receiving system not only provides a new means of observation and research to the domestic and foreign radio astronomy community, but also has been adopted as an international observation standard technique and is widely used in each country. Now, Korea’s space radio receiver manufacturing technology is no longer playing a role in the periphery, but in the center of the world’s radio astronomy community.
